Upgraded to MT 3.33I upgraded my blog software to Movable Type 3.33. There were no noticeable problems. My next big project is to upgrade my Linux distro at home. Then, I will turn my attention to possible site facelift for gazpacho.net. Posted at 11:51 PM
Upgrade Planned SoonI noticed that Moveable Type has reached version 3.3. Well, readers, it seems like time for a gazpacho.net upgrade. Expect to see changes in the near future including a possible new layout. Let me take you through my upgrade process. I have a copy of the blog running on a Linux server on my home network. So, I will start by synchronizing the local blog with the live blog. From this point I can make all of my changes to the copy without affecting the live version. Then I plan to download and upgrade the blog software. There will issues. Upgrades always bring issues. Once things are straightened out, I plan to experiment with new features and tinker with the layout. After I like the changes, I will make a backup copy of the live blog. Finally, I will repeat the installation and changes on the live blog. Maybe I will finally fix the search page templates. That has been on my TODO list for some time. Posted at 4:42 PM
Why I DreamHost I use DreamHost to host my web pages. More than one tech-saavy friend has been suprised that I use a web hosting provider instead of putting the pages on a computer I maintain. I guess I look at it as outsourcing. I pay a reasonable fee for a service.
Here are things that a web hosting service takes care for me:

One Red Paper ClipI found a website named one red paperclip. This guy started with a red paperclip and is trying to trade up to a house. So far he's managed to acquire and trade a cube van and a recording contract. Right now he has one year's worth of rent in Phoenix, Arizona. Posted at 1:02 AM
More Additions from the ArchivesI made more updates to this blog thanks to the Wayback Machine at archive.org. I dug up the web log entries I made around January 2000 at the now-defunct sleepwalkertc.com website. The web site was for a project to make a H. P. Lovecraft inspired total conversion to the Unreal Tournament game. Posted at 1:47 PM
Way Back to the BeginningThanks to the Wayback Machine at archive.org I was able to find personal entries I wrote on my web pages dating all the way back to 1998. I combined these entries with my live journal entries to give this blog a near complete collection of all of my entries. I can see that I have matured in the last eight years. Also, it is a pity that New Orleans will probably never be the same as it was back in 2000. Posted at 4:44 AM
An Idea for Movable TypeI use Movable Type to manage these blog entries. I had an idea for a plug-in: a plugin that allows Movable Type to interface with subversion to allow templates to be version controlled. Posted at 11:29 PM
2005 Brought Most RequestsThank you for making 2005 the busiest year yet for gazpacho.net. Here is a breakdown of the number of requests to this website since 2001. I am hopeful that the year 2006 will bring yet more traffic.

Web Changes and the Coming FightI have some changes planned for these web pages. Over the coming week expect to see improvements in the comments and search templates, an updated copyright notice, an updated resume, redesign of the banner and the addition of archives by category. If there are further improvements you would like to see, your suggestions are welcome. Also, I plan to update the projects page to highlight my next big project, the Atomic Squash LARP entitled Fight Night. At Archon I talked with Rick and Britt of SLUGS for inspiration. Both shared stories and gave helpful tips. Even the game is not until June 3rd I am already thinking about ideas. I have been designing some software in my head that will help us design and organize the characters and their plots. I was not happy with the LARP software I saw when I did an Internet search. I think I can do better. Posted at 11:28 AM
Homer Named Man of the DecadeI saw on the Samantha Burns blog that Homer Simpson was named man of the decade by Britain's Men's Health magazine. Woohoo! Posted at 1:05 PM
Upgraded Movable TypeDreamHost, my web hosting provider, recently upgraded the Unix operating system on which my blog is hosted. This broke the blogging software I use, Movable Type. So, I took the opportunity to upgrade the software. Thankfully the upgrade went smoothly. So, I plan to post an entry about my recent trip to Gen Con real soon now. Posted at 9:56 AM
Gazpacho for the MassesLet me share how people find from my humble home on the Internet. The following is a list of search terms resulting in a link to gazpacho.net. Uhm, woman dragon? gazpacho Upgraded the Blog SoftwareI finally upgraded my blog software to Movable Type 3.15. Also, you asked for it, you got it. I have enabled comments on this post. Gazpacho Turns Sevengazpacho.net made its web debut seven years ago. It has seen many changes over the years. But it has always given information about me and my projects. As mentioned previously I plan on upgrading the blog software. At the same time I plan a bit of a redesign to emphasize the blog and make the site look better. Posted at 7:09 AM
Planned Upgrade of Blog SoftwareI downloaded the latest version of Movable Type tonight. Recompilation of web pages have been sped up significantly! So I am planning a site-wide upgrade to this version in the near future. As a warning I plan to replace old-style permalinks (numbered entries like 000007.html) with new-style links (named entries like send_your_name.html). If you have bookmarked previous entries, they will be broken by the upgrade. Posted at 11:32 PM
Shoes ObjectsI talked to Mike, a former coworker, this week over IM. He told me he reads my blog and wants me to write something entertaining. The pressure! Hey, I will appease him for now by giving a link to Mike's Blog. Just finished playing Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring on the PS2. For you joystick junkies out there this is fun, but short. I was having fun but it was over too quickly. On the plus side there were many characters in the game that did not appear in the movie. Posted at 10:31 PM
First Post!I installed the weblogger software and redesigned my web pages. Posted at 10:58 PM
Vacation Photos OfflineThe vacation photos are now offline. I will bring them back once I figure out a new look for the site. Posted at 4:16 AM
A New LookThis site has a new look. Downloads have their own page. Friends do, too. Check out some of my vacation photos if you are interested. Posted at 4:15 AM
Yet Another UpdateUgh, it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I have a head cold. Sux. sux. sux. Will the "Find Users" option [ed: on livejournal] ever work? Posted at 4:29 AM
First Entry (Live Journal)This is my first entry [ed: in my livejournal]. One of my New Year's resolutions is to keep a journal. I intend to utilize livejournal.com to help accomplish this. In the words of Tesla, "See what the future can hold". Posted at 4:21 AM
