This past weekend I went on a float trip on the Black River in Missouri. Everybody had a good time even though the sun didn’t come out. On Sunday it was cold and wet; almost felt like autumn.

I got to the campsite late the first night. It was dark. The numbers identifying the campsites were not readable from the road. So a couple times I parked the car and walked up to find the number. The people I found were great. One told me the site number and then offered me a beer.

It was great to spend the weekend with friends. I enjoyed being on a raft with the married folks and kids. There were times though that I wish I was in a canoe flirting with the single women. Maybe next time I’ll bring a wingman.

Thought for the Day: why does bottled water have a stale date?

Ever get T.P.ed? You know, the neighborhood prankster runs through your yard throwing toilet paper on the trees. Ever stop to consider how twisted that is? Toilet paper comes from dead trees of course. So the prankster is hanging dead tree products from a live tree. Wouldn’t it be funny if trees ran around hanging intestines from people? Hee.

Thought for the Day:

My bud, Tom E, and I went to the 2004 Soulard Mardi Gras this weekend. We got there early in order to catch the parade. My favs were the Budweiser Clydesdales, the White Castle float and the float with the flag that asked the question “Got Mullet?”

Last time I went to Soulard Mardi Gras a friend got a bad case of food poisoning. She ate a meat-on-a-stick from a vendor on Geyer St. Guess what? I found the vendor this year and snapped a photo. Jenny, that one’s for you!

Some friends came over tonight. We watched Super Bowl commercials in high def (HDTV). Ok, they watched the football game. I watched the ads. Did you see the Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson half-time show? At the end of their routine he reached over and ripped off part of her costume revealing her breast. It was inappropriate for a family show. It was something you would expect shown on cable at late hours. America got to see it in high def. Sometimes you just gotta shake your head.

Well, it has been a long time since I updated this. I have a fit of insomnia tonight. I’ll make a mental note to update this once I’m better rested.
